What a proud big sister Gwen was when she met Leo today. She immediately ran into the room and started rubbing his head (loved his soft hair). She then held him and just beamed with pride. I could see the wheels turning in her head as she tried to put the puzzle together that she was actually holding Baby Pink. BP had just been a concept, but now he is reality (even though she told people today she got to meet her baby sister). We'll see how long the novelty lasts when we bring him home and her universe gets rocked.

Happy BIRTHday Leo!!
As mentioned in my last post I was scheduled to be induced at 7:20 am. Well our baby had other ideas and wanted to be born on HIS terms. Leo Michael Jurbala was born at 3:48 am. He weighed in at 7 lbs 10 oz and was 20 inches long. He has a full head of dark hair and is absolutely perfect.
The labor was short and sweet. I felt contractions all day after my 39 week doctor's appointment. I finally sat down, around 9:30 pm, long enough to start tracking them. They were about 1 min long and 4-5 minutes apart so I called my doctor and they had me go to the hospital:
10:30 pm: Arrived at the hospital at 5 cm dilated
12:00 am: Received epidural
12:15 am: Doctor broke my water
2:00 am: 7 cm dilated
2:50 am: 8 cm dilated
3:15 am: 9 cm dilated
3:30 am: 10 cm dilated
3:38 am: Started pushing
3:48 am: Leo was born!!
I was lucky enough to have both Mike and my mom in the room with me. They kept me laughing, watching Card Sharks at 2:00 am and them freezing to death in the room (Mike had a make-shift snuggy), which kept my mind off the constant shaking that I experienced from laboring so fast. Not only that, but watching them experience the birth of our little boy, made my heart so happy.
Welcome to the world Leo. You are surrounded by so much love and happiness, and have already brought us so much joy!

39 Week Doctor's Appointment
Had my 39 week doctor's appointment today. My blood pressure is perfect, I am up a total of 27 lbs, and BP's heart rate was 127. I am 4 cm dilated and I have a bulging bag of water. That means that the baby's head is pushing on my bag and that it could break at any moment (scary I know). My doctor said that my cervix is ready to have this baby. The only issue we have is that the baby is still pretty high and moves when poked.
Due to all of the above and my quick labor history I head to the hospital at 7:20 am tomorrow morning to be induced. This was a HUGE decision I had to make that I didn't take lightly. It was tough considering I am miserable and have my parents asking me each morning if I am feeling any different. I didn't want those 2 items to drive my decision. I am anxious at the thought of getting medical intervention since Gwen's birth was perfect, but I am happy at the thought of having a more stable birthing environment. The doctor assured me that once they put a bit of pitocin into me and break my water that it should be a smooth/quick birth. I really hope so. My biggest fear is the anticipation. With Gwen I didn't sit and think about it. I woke up and a few hours later she was here. I am jittery with anxiety, excitement, and pure joy. It's amazing to think that this time tomorrow I could be holding my new baby!!!
Today is Gwen's last day as a big sister. She ate pancakes for breakfast and lunch. She gets what she wants today as her universe is about to be rocked :-)
Signing off for the last time as a mom of 1 and a miserable pregnant lady!!!

Wordless Wednesday............with a couple of words
Thank You Aunt Christine for the umbrella. It normally doesn't rain in Colorado, until Gwen got this umbrella. I think we are on a 2 week streak where it has rained or we have had severe weather, everyday. Luckily we are above our precipitation for the year so everything is green and lush, which is unheard of in mid-July.
Gwen mostly enjoys using the umbrella inside, but Mike has used it, while grilling, during the torrential down pours (wish I had a picture of that).

Wow, a Shockingly Positive Doctor's Appointment
I had a doctor's appointment today and it actually went really smoothly. I got there, peed in the cup, and the nurse was waiting for me. I got weighed in (am up a total of 26 lbs this pregnancy, loving the morning weigh ins rather than the evening weigh ins) and immediately put in a room. The doctor was in the room within 5 minutes. Lately I have been waiting a minimum of an hour so this was such a pleasant surprise.
My blood pressure is normal. The baby's heart rate is up to 140 (has been in the 120's for weeks). I am 3 cm dilated and 60% effaced. As miserable as I am (Mike told me this morning I haven't been pleasant this entire pregnancy) we decided to let this pregnancy run its course without any intervention. After a week of 100 degree weather, we'll see if I change my mind next Monday during my next, and hopefully last, visit.
During the appointment I got really excited to hold/meet the new baby. (see the crazy mood swings)

"How Are You Feeling?"
I hate that question. It's a really good thing that I am going to have limited contact with the public in the next 2 weeks because I may end up going off on someone when they ask how I am feeling. How do they think I am feeling? I am 38+ weeks pg, gigantic, and it is 100 degrees out. I normally answer "fine, just ready". I should just pass out the following list with everything that ails me these days.......half of which didn't show up until the past 2 weeks. I am going to be tortured to the bitter end!
Nose bleeds
Can't breathe
Stomach aches
Indigestion/heartburn
Cramping
Contractions
Diarrhea
Exhaustion
Mood swings (anger/sadness)
Headaches
Backaches
Shooting pains
Leg aches/cramps
Lack of motivation
Nausea
I can live with these physical symptoms as I have done it for the past 33+ weeks. What really upsets me is that I lost 9 months with my family. I have never in my life been so disconnected to Mike. I feel like I haven't been engaged/present with Gwen in months. I feel like I missed so much and it breaks my heart. I can honestly say that lately, the only time I feel pure happiness/joy is at the thought of this pregnancy being over and never having to be pregnant again. How terrible is that? I should be overjoyed with the thought of meeting my child but instead I just want my life back.................whatever that new life with 2 kids, will look like. All that I know is that it will be way better than what I am experiencing now.
