just got his first tooth.
makes a grunting sound when he wants more food (he's a Neanderthal).
hits himself in the head with the sippy cup instead of drinking from it.
went on a swing at the park for the first time and loved it. He laughed so hard.
is always smiling a smile that lights up a room. When I see it each day I wish time would stop so I could live in that moment forever.
will play for hours by himself. Our neighbors hope they have a son just like him.
falls asleep, in my arms, while I am rocking him, every night. It's one of my favorite times of the day.
loves his big sister. She gets the biggest smiles and laughs.
screeches like a little girl and squeals when he is happy (or when he sees us).
is constantly in motion.
sleeps through the night more than he doesn't.
moved out of his infant car seat. He's huge and I couldn't carry him in it anymore.
eats................a lot.
turned 8 months old today. I always said that I didn't know what I would ever do with a boy child. Now I don't ever want to imagine life without one.

Leo's First Battle Scar
I am going to state the obvious. Leo is big and has a big head. Well the other day he was playing outside on his blanket. He was on a bit of an incline. Well he reached for a toy and fell over...........twice. I of course laughed (I find it hilarious when people fall) but felt terrible when I saw the mark on his head. Luckily he only cried for a minute.

Happy St. Patty's Day!!
For the past 5+ years we have gone to Downtown Denver for the St. Patty's Day Parade. This year, we decided to forgo the event considering we would have to navigate 4 adults and 3 children through massive crowds. We had a great time anyway.
I ran my first 5K (check that one off my New Year's Resolution). My goal was to just finish it. Imagine my surprise when I ran 10 minute miles!! I am so proud of myself. I had a blast too and am looking forward to the next one. I could have been sad that nobody was at the finish line to meet me (see above paragraph.......it's a lot of people to get to one spot especially with everyone walking) but I wasn't. I conquered a huge fear and had so much fun (and felt great) doing it.
Gwen ran in a race too. They had a kid's fun run. It didn't go so well for her. The first mistake was that they put the small kids in the front. You guessed it, Gwen got trampled. I felt so bad for her. I look up and she is nowhere to be seen. I freak out and then see her running with a lady. I run after her screaming her name (I did not put down my beer........probably mistake #2). I catch up to them and grab Gwen from the lady (who was trying to help). We start running together and this other mother said that her daughter finished in last place last year. I thought to myself "hell no is my daughter going to be last" so we started running. Gwen finished and got chocolate coins and lemonade at the finish.
The day was filled with sun and beer. I did take a 2.5 hour nap and went to bed at 8:30 pm. I can't drink like I used to. I'll just blame it on the fact that I ran a race and that made me tired.

Gwen on the Big Slide
We went to a birthday party for Gwen's friend, Major. It was at Monkey Bizness (for bigger kids). The slides were huge and Gwen had a ball. She was braver than I expected.

7 Month Update
Once again I am writing another post from Leo turning another month old. It's like I can't keep up because the months are flying by. I say all the time that with Gwen it felt like a year, but with Leo, it's just not possible that it is going to be a year soon.
Leo is doing amazing. He is seriously such a happy baby and a joy to be around. He sits up like a champ now and when we put him on his stomach, he automatically rises to his knees/hands, getting ready to crawl. He is a boy that is constantly in motion. I think the only time he is not kicking his legs and moving his arms is when he is sleeping. Once he crawls, I think he will be off. It will be time to actually baby-proof the house.
Leo is a man of few words. He just started saying "blah blah blah" (seriously, that is what it sounds like) and screams like a little girl.........hence why I call him "girly man". He is starting to wave too which is so fun. It's like he found his hand. He's sleeping great at night, but still gets up once to eat. He barely sleeps during the day (maybe 2 hours if we are lucky), so he's in bed at 6:00 and wakes up at 7:00 am. Not too shabby.
He is not the advanced eater like his sister was. Just the other day I upped his nipple size and you'd think he was drowning. He still has no teeth so when we give him "poofs" or cheerios he makes the face that we put a turd in his mouth. He does suffer through them and smiles when he finally swallows it. If his food is too thick he makes the same "who farted" face. It's pretty funny. I am still trying to make him 5 meals a day from scratch, but at daycare he eats jarred food. He definitely has more reactions to food than Gwen did (she had none) where his face turns red, but nothing serious.
We are going to be moving car seats very soon. He has to be pushing 20 lbs and it is really hard for me to carry the infant carrier. He rode in the shopping cart for the first time using one of those cart covers to hold him up. He loved it and was so happy the entire time. I am excited to have him sit up with us when we go to restaurants. It's nice having him interact with us.
Gwen loves her little brother but is definitely very possessive of her toys. She does not like him playing with them especially because he puts everything in his mouth and drools a ton. She still tackle him and hugs him a bit too hard, but we learned she does that with her friends too. Just this morning I caught her playing with Leo, she was the teacher. She is also trying to teach him to crawl. Leo is very lucky to have her as a big sister as she is so smart and funny, and loves life.
