He's Standing!!

As you know by now, Gwen was on her own timetable when it came to her gross motor skills.  She never worked on standing, rarely pushed a push toy to help her walked, never wanted to hold our hands and walk.........and of course didn't actually walk until 20 months.  She was content crawling and playing with the iPhone & watching TV.

Not Leo.  We are experiencing "normal" development (I put quotes around normal because by now Gwen could navigate an iPhone and play games.  Leo will just put it in his mouth or hit himself in the head.  I now shocks me that Gwen could actually do that!).  Leo now goes from a sitting to standing position without holding on and can stand for a while on his own.  He's cruising a ton more, loves to push his push toy, and can walk while holding just one of our hands.   It's fun watching him hit all these milestones as Gwen's "delays" near killed me.

You be the judge.  Does he look more like a surfer or a sumo wrestler?

The Deck

In the past few days we have spent more time in the backyard than we have in the past 3 years of living in this house.  The main reason is our brand new deck!  I know there are probably a million better ways to spend that kind of money, but having family time outside makes it all worth it!

Here is a good look before and after:

SH!T Gwen Says

I am going to start a new regularly occurring post.  SH!T Gwen Says (when Leo talks he will be included as well) as she says a lot of funny stuff.

We were at the grocery store and were walking down the juice isle. Gwen says "look mom, they have wine".  It was sparkling cider and sparkling juice.

Gwen sings "Landon Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down.  Landon Bridge is falling down, my BEAR lady".

12 Months!

So I finally got around to taking Leo's 12 month photo, and finally got around to putting it in the blog.  It's worth the wait as he is a cutie pie!

Uncle Joe's Visit

Uncle Joe came out for a quick visit.   He and Mike played golf and we went on a family hike.  We even ventured out to dinner (we may have scared him off from kids forever).  It was great having the kiddos spend time with him and Gwen was very sad when he had to leave.

Should I Be Concerned??

This morning we were explaining to Gwen that when she gets home from swimming, the deck will be gone.  We told her we will be getting a bigger deck.  We then explained to her all the things we will be able to do on the deck.  We said we can eat dinner and play on the deck.  She says “have cocktails”.  Um…………………
