He's Like a Ninja

The anxiety has begun.  My baby boy turns 1 in 1 month.  Looking back it does seem like a year ago that I had him, but when I think about it, I get extremely emotional.  Anything sets me off in tears.......especially all those "thank you mom" commercials for the Olympics.  One good thing is that at  11 months old today, he is getting much easier.  Life with 2 kids is getting a bit easier (it helps that everyone sleeps through the night now).  They now play together and Gwen loves making Leo laugh.

Leo is doing great.  He crawls everywhere.  He's normally pretty loud when he crawls (hands slapping on the floor, breathing heavy...etc) except when it comes to his stealth missions.   His missions include playing in the cat's water (seriously, I was putting on makeup the other day and I heard nothing but splashing.  No idea how he got past me without me seeing or hearing him.....he's like a ninja), trying to get whatever toy Gwen is playing with, trying to get one of the pets, and searching out food (by food I mean anything he can potentially put in his mouth.....leaves, twigs, fur, old Cheerios but also follows us around trying to eat whatever we are eating).  My favorite thing he does is follow me around saying "ma ma ma".

He is starting to pull himself up and loves standing and playing.  He is already doing "child's pose" and loves to climb all over things (i.e. me).   His favorite things in the world are balls.  He is already throwing/playing catch.  He plays with toys where he tries to fit shapes into holes and loves playing with Gwen's car slide.  He knows that a brush is used in his hair (along with headbands and crowns) and knows that shoes go on his feet.  The list can go on and on.  I love watching him learn new things and explore the world...........which he does in a crazy fashion.

As I say every month.........I just love my little boy!!

Leo's 1st Haircut

Leo got his first haircut today.  There were no tears from Leo.  He wasn't quite sure what was going on, but in laid back Leo fashion, he went with the flow.  I watched as they cut the messy curls out of his hair.  They turned him towards me and it took my breath away. Gone was my little baby and in the place was a little boy.  It took everything in my being to not start sobbing immediatly.  I instead waited until dinner.  Gwen had to hug me because I was crying.  I was not prepared for that.........at all.  He looks so handsome and now when I look back at pictures I realized he was in desperate need of a haircut.

32 Hours.........

Work approved me dropping to 32 hours/week.  As excited as I am, I was very hesitant.  I was nervous about dropping my salary by 20%, being able to handle my entire workload in 4 days instead of 5, and derailing my career.

My first Friday off I am having a "Girls Day" with Gwen.  We are going to lunch and to see "Brave".  This morning I came home from boot camp and she said to me "Look mommy, I'm up.  Only 3 more sleeps.".  She is counting down the number of times she goes to bed before our Girls Day.  That in itself solidified the fact that I am doing the right thing for me and for my family.  I just love her*!!

*She was pretty rough from age 3-3.5, but our fantastic/amazing little girl is coming back to us!  Even her teacher says that Gwen "blows her away" at how smart and wonderful she is.  She was the only one listening to the lesson "dissolve" the other day.

Just.  So.  Happy.

Pizza & Beer

As Papa J says "Food and beer have always been Jurbala's trademark".  Well Leo is a true Jurbala and he proved it tonight.  Leo crawled for the first time today to a piece of pizza.  Once the pizza was taken away, he turned around and crawled towards Mike's beer (you can see in the pic below).  I am so proud of him, yet kinda feel like it's wrong in a way :-)

Park Fun

We are loving the warm weather and are really looking forward to this summer.  We purchased a backpack to carry Leo in so that we could go hiking.  We also purchased a double stroller that you can pull behind a bike or run with.  It is night and day above the double stroller we currently have.  The kiddos are a bit smushed in there, but it makes doing anything, much easier.  We have been having a great time going to parks and riding around.
