Our Family Vacation

The Jurbala's took their first vacation as a family of 4.  We spent a week in Ft. Lauderdale staying with our friends Jen and Mark.  The trip was extremely stressful and exhausting.  Leo ended up with an ear infection and Gwen was her fun filled self (sarcasm).  Mike flew down with both kids alone (way to go!) and met me there on the 20th.  We spent most of our time playing at the pool, hanging out at the beach, or watching Sleeping Beauty.  Neither kid slept well which meant we didn't sleep well either.  I am 99% more exhausted now than I was before our vacation.  At one point I vowed never to take them on vacation again.  Of course that isn't true.  I am actually looking forward to our next one :-)

Gwen's Vacation

It was hard to come up with pictures for Gwen because she was pretty miserable 75% of our vacation and never wanted her picture taken.  The only time she was happy was playing at the ocean and playing in the pool.  She is truly a beach girl.  I was lucky enough to spend 2.5 hours with her at the ocean playing one morning (just the 2 of us).  It was so much fun!  She didn't whine once...........it was amazing!  I found a shell and saved it so I can remember that moment forever.

Leo's 1st Vacation

So I think the only way I can write about our trip to Ft. Lauderdale is to break it up between children because they both had completely different vacations.

Leo's first vacation didn't go so well.  Mike flew with both kids alone (way to go) and met me in Ft. Lauderdale on Friday the 20th.  Leo didn't sleep well that weekend.  We thought it was because he was sleeping on cardboard (long story but we got a pack n play without the padding).  Nope.  He got an ear infection.  The poor little kid was so sick.  We even had to take him to the "semi urgent care" where Dr. Casanova (yes that was his name) gave him antibiotics.  To add insult to injury, Leo is getting 4 teeth at the same time.  On top of all of this his skin dried out and he had rashes everywhere.  We are hoping his 2nd vacation goes a bit smoother.

All in all Leo was actually his happy self.  He didn't sleep well at night, but I think it's because he was clogged, sleeping on cardboard, and knew we were in the room.  He loved the sand (ate a ton of it), hated the ocean (screamed in fear), and LOVED playing in the pool.  I am looking forward to taking him this summer!

Happy 9 Month's Leo!

I took Leo to the doctor's for his 9 month checkup.  When it was over the doctor told me that he would see me for his year checkup.  I thought to myself "wow, that's a long ways away"..................umm.......NOPE, it's in 3 months!!!!

Leo weighs 22 1/2 lbs (the same as Gwen) and his height is  29 1/2 inches (2 inches taller than Gwen was).  He is one solid little kid with a gigantic 97% head (just like his sister).  He has 2 bottom teeth and his top 2 are about to break through and so is another bottom tooth.

Leo is always happy go lucky.  His smile is amazing.  He is still not crawling, but that's okay.  I can still sit down once in a while!  He babbles and his favorite game in the world is "peek a boo".  He sleeps from about 6 pm to 5 am.  Most nights he falls asleep on my shoulder.  It's one of my favorite things in the world.  He loves Stella and is constantly cooing at her when she's around.  She is so desperate for attention that she even lets him pet her.  All in all he is a really laid back kid.  I guess he has to be with his crazy sister.

Leo's First Time on a Swing..........

.............and he loved it!!  Laughed the entire time.

Gwen at the Dentist

I took Gwen to the dentist a couple weeks ago.  For some odd reason she loves the dentist.  Maybe it's because they have toys and Xbox.  Maybe it's because they have movies on the ceiling, a huge fish tank, and when you walk in they fill a bag of goodies for the kids.  Maybe it's all the choices for toothpaste and dental floss.  Who knows, but I am not going to question her love.   Not only did she let them clean and poke around at her teeth, but she got her first x-rays!  We got to see her adult teeth behind her baby teeth.  Everything looks great.  She did so fantastic and I was just so proud of her.
